Do You Get Frustrated When Your Emails Are Unopened?
Do you ever get frustrated when your emails are unopened?
I’m going to give you a few tips on things to consider when you are preparing your email.
1. Subject Line – Your email’s subject line carries a lot of responsibility. It is a huge determining factor as to whether your email gets opened or not. Be careful to avoid trigger words like FREE, DISCOUNT, NO MONEY REQUIRED, etc. These have a tendency to trigger spam filters. Try to use something that will arouse curiosity. An example of this is ‘How to…’ is always a good one.
2. Timing is everything. A rule of thumb is Mondays and Fridays are not good days. People are either catching up from the week before, or they’re desperate to get their weekend started. That’s why sometime mid week is better.
As for the time of day, try mid morning. First thing and they’ll be up to their eye balls in emails, meetings and phone calls and after lunch they’ll be clock watching for the end of the day.
3. Frequency –If you send out emails too often, people will get fed up with you and unsubscribe. Send them once in a blue moon and they’ll forget signing up for them and also unsubscribe.
4. Content – It is very important that you give your readers value. Give them what they want and don’t just keep sending random sales messages. The basic concept of them signing up to your list is so they could be kept informed about your business. That means giving them value information in the way of tips, how to guides, and directing them to interesting articles, not just pushing them to buy something from you.
5. Brand Yourself – Make sure that your readers know who you are. Avoid saying “Hi, it’s me”, using your initials, and making them fully aware of who you are.
No one buys from someone they don’t know, like, or trust! Would you buy directly from an email that just came from someone that you had no clue who the sender was?
My point is to let you know that branding your NAME is one of the most important things you can do when it comes to email marketing. Let people know who you are so that when you email them, they not open open your email, but they listen to you!
