Why Realtors Should Have A Blog
It’s important that all businesses have a blog as a way to connect with potential customers and share your products. While most of the following reasons for blogging relate to most any business, my focus here is focused on why Realtors should have a blog.
1. Companies that blog receive 55% more website visitors than companies that don’t blog (hubspot.com).
2. Blogging drives people to your website, which gives you more opportunity to convert visitors into customers.
3. It’s an SEO dream: link to relevant pages on your website and social media profiles, use targeted keywords & tagged images, and make sure to update frequently. You will be surprised how many people are searching for your area and if you are using SEO efficiently, you will be the Realtor they find.
4. Blogging allows for feedback and client interaction. Ask your readers to leave questions and comments. You will have the opportunity to share your knowledge and be the authority in your field.
5. Be helpful. Offering to help others who are outside of your real estate territory can often lead to a tremendous amount of referral fees. I know of a Realtor who earned $45,000 in one year from referral fees that were a direct result from his blog.
6. Always use a call to action that will link to a landing page where they can will in their name and email in order to receive more information.
7. Create business accounts on social media and share your new blog posts there as well. Use ( #) hashtags such as #realestate so that people who search for those terms can find your blog.
8. Blogging will increase you visibility. People from all over the world can access your blog and you never know how many of those people may have property in your area or want to purchase property in your area. It will also allow you to connect with other people such as real estate attorneys, appraisers, contractors and many others that you may be able to establish a relationship with.
9. Share new listings, price reductions, luxury listings, just sold listings, neighborhood profiles, market trend reports, tips for increasing the value of your property, what lenders have the best interest rate, Short Sales, and open houses. Show your expertise.
10. The whole point of business blogging is to educate, to sell, and to create trust so people will invest their time and money in you or your business.
Bottom line is to create valuable content (answering what people what to know), blog with consistency…(whether you blog daily or weekly make sure you are consistent), reap the benefits.

To Your Prosperity…
Great post on the value of every business having a blog, especially Real estate agents
Thanks
Thanks Sean. Glad you enjoyed the post! We understand why Realtors need a blog…all we have to do is get THEM to understand. Thanks again for you comments.
Great Article and explanation to why Realtors specifically need to and how to use this Blogging System to help generate new customers…Thanks Sherry
Thanks Mark! Glad you enjoyed the post. I don’t think Realtors understand the importance of a blog. I don’t remember if I mentioned it in my post but Realtors can receive referral fees (legally). For instance, if someone in a Realtor’s local area is moving, they can actually get a referral fee by calling another agent and saying “Hey, I have someone moving to your area and they are looking for a home.” Instant referral fee!
Thanks for your comments Mark.
A wealth of information here, Sherry! This should help any realtor that is evaluating whether they should have a blog or not. And of course, we know the answer – YES! Thanks for sharing such great content!
Thanks for the comments Robin. Yes, every Realtor should have a blog. Let’s go tell them “A blog is you home on the Internet”. 🙂 It’s actually their permanent real estate.
Thanks so much for your comments.
Hi Sherry,
Fantastic blog, great content.
Good work.
Thanks Tania & Scott! Glad you enjoyed the blog. Now if we can just get Realtors to understand why they need a blog. 🙂 Thanks for you comments.
I love this post Sherri!!!! Love!!!! You are epically talented! – awesome blog post! Way to show a realtor what she/he really needs!
Thanks Suzanne for the comments and the compliments! Glad you enjoyed the post. All we have to do is go and show Realtors “why” they need a blog. Thanks again!
This is great post with very valid points for Realtors to actively engage with their prospects and customers on a Blog of their own. Thanks
Thanks Suzette! Glad you enjoyed the post. As you can tell from my other comments, I think every business entrepreneur INCLUDING Realtors should have their own blog…not just a company website.
Thanks again for your comments!
Great advice. Definitely a Realtor should have a blog and the content you described is perfect. Now, getting them to understand that is a different story – let’s hope a few of them read this and learn.
Thanks Charlene…and yes, hopefully some will read this.It amazes me that some (actually many) people think their website is their blog. I personally think even if your company has a website or blog, each individual Realtor should have their own blog. Thanks for the comments!
having a blog is necessary and it doesnt matter what profession you are in. if oprah and martha stewart have blogs, so should you. success leaves clues
Thanks Sheena! You are so right…every profession & professional person should have a blog.
Let’s get the word out to them. 🙂
Thanks for the comments!
