Are You Going In Circles Or Do You Know Your "Definite Chief Aim"
When we think about Napoleon Hill, most of us automatically think about his number one best seller “Think and Grow Rich” which has created many millionaires.
I highly recommend reading “Think and Grow Rich”. This book alone has helped many people become successful in their personal lives as well as being successful in business.
I would also like to introduce you to the book “The Laws Of Success” by Napoleon Hill.
It is often referred to the 16 Principles of Success. It contains 15 lessons along with an introduction titled “the Master Mind”. This book is sometimes neglected by many because it’s actually a huge book. However, it is well worth your time to read it.
Today, as I was re-reading the “Law of Success”, I decided that it was time to share ONE key lesson from this book. If you have not read this book, I think you will definitely benefit from the key points I going to focus on.
The number one lesson in the book is knowing your “Definite Chief Aim” in life. If you don’t know your definite chief aim, you don’t know where you are going…you are just wondering around without a destination.
The key-note in this entire lesson may be found in the word “DEFINITE”.
“No position in life can be secure, and no achievement can be permanent, unless built upon truth and justice.”
What is your “Definite Chief Aim” in life?
“Any definite chief aim in life that is deliberately fixed in the mind and held there, with the determination to realize it, finally saturates the entire subconscious mind until it automatically influences the physical action of the body toward the attainment of that purpose. “
Take note that your ”Definite Chief Aim” in life should be selected with deliberate care, written out, and placed where you can read it at least once a day. This will have a tremendous affect on your beliefs, your attitude toward success, as well as to impress this purpose upon your subconscious mind.
Think about it this way, if a ship lost it’s rudder in the ocean and began circling around, it would soon exhaust it fuel supply without reaching the shore.
Without a definite purpose backed up by a definite plan for its attainment, you are just like a ship without a rudder…going in circles with no destination in mind.
You have to know your Definite Chief Aim in life but you also have to have a plan in order to reach that destination. No house was ever built without a plan. The same works for business.

Excellent post Sherry. Without a definite chief aim in life, aren’t we all just drifting along. Having a purpose that you can live passionately each day is one way of really fulfilling your life… otherwise it’s a bit “empty” isn’t it?.

And yes, having a Definite Major Purpose in life, that you go after with a burning desire is a must, so that we’re not spinning our wheels (or rudders!) aimlessly!
