5 Must Do Tips For A Successful Personal Blog or Business Blog
Are you considering blogging?
If you are, I’m sure you have asked yourself “What will I blog about?”
At one time, not so very long ago, I would have asked the same question.
If you have done research or asked other bloggers what they blog about I’m sure you have received a lot of different answers. Here are my thoughts on that.
Do you want to blog to make money on a business blog or do you want to blog for fun on a personal blog? Or, maybe you want to do both.
You may have been told to blog about whatever interests you.
You may have been told to blog about whatever interests your audience.
You may have been told to furnish great content that provides a solution to a problem that your audience has.
All of that is true.
The bottom line is “what is your goal?”
If you want to blog for fun just to share with your friends and family by all means, do so.
You know your audience and you know what content to provide that interests them. Your interest is their interest.
If you have a product or service that you want to sell and make money, your audience should be someone who is interested in your product or service or maybe someone who is interested in doing the same thing you are.
Think about where your passion lies, and blog about it.
If you are blogging to make money, hopefully you are passionate about what you are doing and it will reflect in your blog.
You may want to blog about your hobbies, interests, ideas, or opinions. Whatever your interests are.
Just be yourself.
Even if you are writing for fun and have a personal blog, you want to have a successful blog.
If you are going to be blogging to make money then you HAVE TO HAVE a successful business blog.
I’m going to list a few tips for you to consider. These may not be “new” tips to you but I feel they are important in the success of your blog.
Notice I’m not going to start off with the first tip you may have seen before that says you have to have the right hosting company, domain name, blogging platform, appealing design, theme, and so on because if you use the Kalatu blogging system all of that is done for you.
1. Have a goal – Are you trying to promote your business on a business blog? Are you simply blogging for fun on your personal blog and want to share your thoughts, pictures, and opinions?
2. Know your audience – Understanding your audience better means you’ll have a better idea of what blog content will resonate with them, which is a good start when you get to writing blog posts. It doesn’t matter if its for pleasure on a personal blog or for business on your business blog as long as you know who they are.
You may even decide to have two separate blogs…one for business and one for pleasure as long as you don’t get the two confused.
Look at it this way, you may enjoy gardening and want to share your gardening tips, pictures, or your experience as a gardener with other gardeners but that probably would not interest your network marketing audience if you are selling vitamins.
3. Furnish valuable content – Once you determine your audience you want to provide valuable content that will provide a solution to their problems. Even if you are writing for pleasure about gardening, you want to provide information such as “how to” or “top tips” or something that will spark their interest, solve their problem and make them look forward to your next post.
The same goes for your business. Always provide a solution to your audience’s problems by sharing tips, tools, training, education, books, knowledge…anything that is helpful.
Ask yourself, “What subjects do my readers want me to write about, what types of content do they prefer (written blog posts, infographics, videos, etc.), and what is the best way for me to present these to my audience.
4. Build a list – Start building your email list from day one. Even if you don’t plan on selling anything, having an email list allows you to promote your new content to your audience directly. You may not be selling anything right now but you never know what you may decide in the future.
The best way to build your email list is with an autoresponder. I use GetResponse and there are many others available.
5. Call to Action – Tell your audience what you want them to do. Do you want them to subscribe to your newsletter? Do you want them to follow you on Twitter or Facebook? Do you want them to watch a video? Maybe you just want them to share your post or leave a comment.
Your call-to-action will tell them what you want them to do. This is a way for them to enter their email address, which goes into your autoresponder, and allows you to stay in touch with them and continually provide more content.
As I said in the beginning of this post, you may have heard all of these tips before but my main point is to emphasize that you should determine your goal for blogging whether it’s a business blog or a personal blog for pleasure and to share your ideas and opinions.
