COMPARING TEMPLATES ON MOBILE DEVICES
Getresponse’s templates are designed to work
responsively both on desktop computers and
smartphones (the recipient is served up an optimised
version of the e-newsletter for their device) but Aweber
e-newsletters look the same across all devices.
Another feature is that Getresponse users can
preview their e-newsletter as a desktop version
and a mobile version before sending, meaning that
they can they can tweak their content / design to work
for both platforms.
TRIAL OFFERS
You can get a 30 day trial of Aweber for $1 before
upgrading to a proper plan. With GetResponse
you get a 30 day free trial and they do not ask for your
credit card details in advance.
IMPORTING CONTACTS
Aweber has a strict approach to contact importing
contacts. Essentially, when you import your own
mailing list to Aweber, your subscribers receive an
email asking them to reconfirm their subscription –
and no data will be added to your list unless
your subscribers click the reconfirm link.
I realize this firm approach to importing contacts is
to ensure that their tools are not being used by
spammers who are sending junk to bought lists –
or possibly scraped lists, but the fact of the
matter is that man of the subscribers (perhaps the majority)
on a genuine business list that you have spent years
building elsewhere will simply not resubscribe and you
will not be able to use any of Aweber’s functionality to
communicate with them.
GetResponse, on the other hand, simply allows you to
upload and use your existing contacts.
GetResponse has awesome automation tools.
You can trigger emails to go out based on certain events.
GetResponse also has built-in surveys
GetResponse is full of free stock images.
WHICH ONE IS BETTER?
I think that that would depend on your business needs
aswell as your budget. Obviously, GetResponse is less
expensive. But if you want to the ability to integrate with
third party sites – Getresponse integrations involve
setting up a Zapier to make them work. Although this
is not complicated, but less technically minded users may appreciate that Aweber offers a few more‘out of the box’ –
and slightly easier – ways to integrate your mailing list
with third party tools.
There are many other autoresponders available
such as MailChamp, iContact, Constant Contact,
Infusion Soft, GVO, and several others.
My only experience has been with GVO, Aweber, and
GetResponse.
However, I would like to hear your comments regarding
what has worked for you and why you choose your
autoresponder.
Not that I am recommending one over the other but I have
had great success with my current autoresponder which is
GetResponse. The only issues I had with Aweber was in
inability to import contacts and for some the pricing may be
an issue as well. I am choosing not to discuss my
experience with GVO.
I can say that with both Aweber and GetResponse the
customer support was awesome and the “live chat”
was very useful.
Open for discussion on this issue as I’m sure everyone has
their own opinion. What works for one may or may not
work for someone else.
