Win Friends and Influence People
In Dale Carnegie’s book “How to Win Friends and Influence People in the Digital Age” lists six ways to make a lasting impression.
These simple concepts can be applied to your business or your personal life and you will change your life.
1. Take Interest in Others’ Interest
Self -interest is part of human nature. This principle simply indicates that most people forget the other side of the human equation…everyone else.
Most take self-interest to the self-centered end of the spectrum. The effectiveness of this principle is therefore tired directly to the infrequency with which most choose to think outside themselves on most days. The on who chooses, conversely, to tak interests in other’s interest on a daily basis is set apart. We remember such people, befriend them, and come to trust them more deeply.
2. Smile
A smile is contagous.
Think about the most viewed videos on YouTube. We gravitate to the funny ones. Even in our digital communication, the use of emotions such as “smily faces” can have a positive impact on the message we are trying to send.
Smile through your written words and you convey to other that their well-being is important to you.
3. Reign with Names
It is important to remember that a person’s name is important to them as they is the only thing they have had since they were born.
We should always be aware of the magic contained in the person’s name and realize that this word is wholly and completely owned by the person with who we are dealing, and nobody else. It is a person’s trademark.
4. Listen Longer
Changing hearts and minds often comes from the power of listening.
Read other’s posts and messages closely; comment or reply with question, and do it for at least five different people every day. In addition to that, use your posts and updates to ask more quests of your friends and followers. You may be surprised at how many people respond.
5. Discuss What Matters to Them
As Mitch Joel mentioned in a blog post…
We (as a public) seem to believe that the influence comes from the sheer volume of impressions and connections that we have in the marketplace…It doesn’t. True influence comes from connecting to the individuals, nurturing those relationships, adding real value to the other (people’s) lives and doing anything and everything to serve them, so that when the time comes for you to make and ask, there is someone there to lend a hand.
6. Leave Others a Little Better
Your biggest and best intentions-for a relationship, for your followership, for a company or collaborative endeaver-will regularly fall short of their potential if you inspirational intentions do not translate into small acts of service and value.
We all want to be successful in life whether it is in business, our personal life, or improving our financial situation. Taking and applying the above concepts will prove to enhance your ability to make a positive influence on people and enhance your chances of influencing and maintaining friends.
