Are You Affected By Shiny Object Syndrome?

 If you have been actively searching for ways to start an online business and are attracted to every new opportunity that appears, you may be affected by the Shiny Object Syndrome (S.O.S.).

This syndrome often applies to health/fitness, film-making industry, reporting, couponing, and online business opportunities.

So What Is Shiny Object Syndrome?

It is chasing after “the next great thing” without actually implementing/focusing/taking action on any of them – in a way that measurable results are achieved before jumping on to the next “must-have” great thing or opportunity captures your attention.

Reaching out and attaching on to every new opportunity that is presented to you has been called the “Shiny Object Syndrome“.
For example, how many times have you seen or purchased “a new and improved” exercise program?  Or, “new and better” exercise equipment? Vitamins and health supplements that “will” improve your…whatever?  This is an example of the Shiny Object Syndrome.

While there are many other examples this article is going to focus on Shiny Object Syndrome as it applies to your business or maybe your lack of business.

I want to point out a few things to get you thinking about how this could relate to you and your situation if you are looking to start an online business. Is your inbox is full of invitations to:

(1) make money in the next 15 minutes,

(2)easy to do get rich now,

(3) join now before your friends do,

(4) grab this free app and earn millions,

(5) and the list goes on and on.

How do you choose which of those wonderful, free products are you going to choose that will earn you the most money before the first of the month when the rent/house payment comes due?

Now, let me ask you this.  What have you received lately that was absolutely free?  A free meal at McDonald’s? You probably had to buy the first one to get the second one free right?  Nothing worth having is absolutely free.

Jumping from one opportunity to another without being focused on anything will not help you achieve your goals. Did I say goals?  Yes. If you are going to be successful you have to set goals.

What is your plan of action to achieve those goals?  Did I say “plan of action”? Yes. You have to have a plan of action.  Believe me…you are going to have to have a plan and take action if you want to achieve your goals.  Sitting on the couch eating Doritos isn’t going to do it.  Watching TV or playing video/computers all day isn’t going to put money in your pocket either.

I can honestly say I have been guilty of Shiny Object Syndrome but I’m thankful that I was wise enough not to “try out” every new idea that was presented to me. I know a get rich scheme when I see it and there are millions of them out there.
