America's Farmers Helping Others ~ Why We Should Too

As marketers and online entrepreneurs, we should take a few lessons from America’s Farmers when it comes to helping others.

I’m not sure why this particular topic came to mind today but I wanted to share some thoughts about helping others and the American Farmer.

Maybe it’s because I was raised on a farm and I understand how important famers are and their livelihood is all about helping others.

Farmers are often put in one of two categories…

The poor dirt farmer
        or

The rich farmer who always drives a new truck.

Everyone has a different view of a farmer.

You may have seen this video during the Super Bowl in 2013 but now is a good time to watch it again.

I was like the little boy at the end. 
I wanted to be a farmer. 
I wanted to be just like my dad.

I remember many times my dad getting up in the middle of the night to help a neighbor who needed to get his crops out before the rain.

I remember him getting up in the middle of the night and getting his tractor to pull someone out of the snow when they got stuck.

That’s what farmers do.

They serve.

They help.

Do you know what America’s farmers grow?  It’s much more than just growing crops and raising animals.

Did you know America’s farmers grow 23 million American jobs? That’s right.  The American agriculture industry supports 23 million U.S. jobs, making them the largest employer in the nation. America’s farmers also grow the economy with a trade surplus of 34 billion dollars – that’s more than any other U.S. industry.

Not only do they grow the crops that feed, clothe, and fuel us but they do it all on less land than 50 years ago. 

America’s Farmers grow a lot more than just crops. 

They grow America.

Farmers are all about helping others.
